Aliens: Earth Angel (a comic book review); short comic, short review

Man, oh man.... I gotta' hand it to them, they did a great job drawing what looked like your typical 50's/60's "sci-fi/horror" comic (not in terms of content, but in terms of the style of pen and ink/colouring... or so I thought at least). It was as campy as one would expect from that era as well.

But then came the end *SPOILER ALERT* and we find out that lo' n behold, GIANT COINCIDENCE here, a xenomorph lands on earth and who else would stumble upon it and fight it but a great, great, great, great grand-pappy of Ellen Ripley herself..... Yes, I kid you not. Of all the places on earth to crashland the UFO in which an infested pilot ends up where this guy lives. It's just as dumb as it sounds. I know, I know, people like tidy, neat little bows. They like sequels that some how grasp desperately at the first film, and likewise they are titillated by PREquals that do so as well.

Why? Especially when one must suspend all sense of realism to do so? To me that negatively impacts the prequal (not to say there's anything wrong with a prequal or sequal that is linked on REASONABLE grounds, but when the writer is trying this hard, it kills it for me - think the 'APC scene from 'Aliens vs Predator: Requiem' as well as every other hokey 'nod' or copycat moment from other past movies... Just BAD).

So on those grounds I have to say I was glad this comic was so short and not a fullblown series as usual. I couldn't have stomached stretching this unimaginable coincidence out any longer.

The style was alright and until the 'reveal' at the end the story was half-way decent. I can only give this a 2/5 stars **
